Love is in the air... by Heather Dewhurst

Love is in the air –

Wrote this, then realised it was the title of a song that’ll be playing in my head for hours now, thank you John Paul Young (1978)!!

Anyway, February is here, the days are getting noticeably longer, Imbolc brightens the beginning of the month and Valentine’s day fun in the middle.

If you have a significant (or potential) other, the plans you have will probably involve them. But I want to focus on self-care for this month.

We are often our own worst enemies, when we stop to observe our internal conversations, we may discover we are talking to ourselves in a negative manner that we would never use to our friends or relatives! Recognising this means we can challenge our ego, it’ll take time but by contesting what our internal monolog says, our esteem and self-worth will blossom.

In the meantime, what do you enjoy most?

Is it a walk in natural surroundings? Foraging?

Or visiting museums/historic places?

Reading a book? I would like to suggest Rachel's book Curative Magic, which is full of ideas for magical self-care.

Watching favourite films snuggled under a blanket?

Making a special hot chocolate with marshmallows and cream, to slowly sip?

Taking a luxurious bath with candles and bubbles?

Baking cakes? Brewing lotions and potions?

Crafting/crocheting/knitting/sewing/sculpting?

Gardening?

The important thing is to make a date with yourself, ensure you mark it on the calendar, plan to do this regularly, depending on your commitments, but treat it as you would a date with others, schedule in the time, you are worth it.
