Hyacinth by Gypsy Willowmoon

Hyacinthus orientalis.

A bulb which produces highly scented very pretty flowers, in a mixture of colours: pink, purple, white and yellow, on stems that come up from between long green leaves in early spring.

According to Gerald's Herbal - The roots can be beaten and applied with white wine, hinder or keep back the growth of hairs...

Ruling planet: Venus

Element: Water

Gender: Feminine

Magical properties: Love, Happiness, peace, sleep, nightmares & abundance.

Hyacinths scent can bring a sense of peace, happiness and calm (or hay fever...)

Keep in your bedroom to aid a good night’s sleep and keep away nightmares. Guards against nightmares when used as an oil, burned as incense, or included in dream pillows.

Use the petals dried, in spell work for love and abundance or crystal grids or pot pourri or incense...

The smoke from hyacinth incense can aid crossing the etheric planes.

Worked with as a de- hexing smudge, helping to rid of negative energies, whilst replacing with positive energies - As the final smudge used.

Can also be used in uncrossing spells.

Can be made into a perfume to wear on Saturdays, as Hyacinth corresponds to Saturday.

Roses may be safely used in place of any flower in ritual or spell work.

Named for Hiakinthos, Greek God of homosexual love, this is the patron herb for gay men.

Carry in amulet or sachet to ease grief or the pain of childbirth.
