For those witches who have to keep their craft inconspicuous, here is an idea for a working altar using items that will not arouse suspicion as it will just look like room décor! This is also a quick handy way of spell working for any busy no fuss witch.
All you are going to need is an oil burner, tea lights, water, oils or herbs to add to the water. Having this means that you have already incorporated earth – the ceramic burner; air – burner fired in a kiln likely to have fan heating, plus the air for the candle to burn; fire – the kiln and the candle; water – used when making the burner and the water you add for a working; spirit – your intentions.
From this basic altar set up you can practice any spell you wish, just by adjusting the items a little. Make up your own charms to say as you put your spell together and use visualisation skills to see the successful outcome of your spell. Here are some examples –
Healing Spell – use a white, blue or green coloured tea light; you could use or add a few drops of water from a well or spring known for healing; the oil or herbs used would be those you associate with healing; write a petition or draw a sigil and place this under a crystal inside the burner behind the candle. Say a charm as you put everything together and light the tea light.
Prosperity Spell – white or green tea light; mint oil; coins added inside the burner behind the candle. Say your charm.
Love Spell – white, red or pink tealight; rose or jasmine oil; petition or sigil under a crystal placed behind the candle. Say your charm.
Protection Spell – white, blue or black tea light; rosemary, pine or frankincense oil; sigil or petition under a crystal or pebble behind the candle. Say your charm.
I would say that for this or any spell to be effective, the most important ingredient is your intention, followed closely by clear visualisation of a successful outcome.
You can also add crystal chips, oil or a small amount of your chosen herbs to the top of the tealight
