Kitchen Witch

Flowers of September by Rachel Patterson

The following are taken from Rachel's book A Kitchen Witch's World of Magical Herbs and Plants published by Moon Books

Aster (Callistephus chinensis)

These are perennials with beautiful flowers that come in all sorts of colours and bloom between August and October. A wash made from aster petals and leaves is excellent for cleansing and consecrating your altar and your magical tools. Hang dried aster flowers in the highest part of your house (loft / attic if possible) to keep away negative energy. The flowers carry a very definite feminine energy so are very good for working with the Goddess. Use aster in incense blends to help you locate lost items.

Aster Magical Properties:

Love, consecration, protection, Goddess, lost items.

Ruling Planet: Venus

Sign: Libra

Element: Water

Morning Glory (Convolvulaceae, Ipomoea)

Usually perennial but in colder areas grown as annuals, climbing or trailing, morning glory has pretty flowers that open and bloom in the early morning. Use the seeds and flowers for divination and add to incense blends to increase your psychic abilities and astral travel skills.

Morning Glory Magical Properties:

Divination, astral travel, psychic powers.
