Book review by Heather
Sulis one of the very ancient English goddesses, evidence of Her is only found at the hot springs in Bath, Somerset. I recommend this book to anyone who wishes to become acquainted with Her. Rachel has brought together information from archaeology and Roman documents, with her own personal experience, to provide the reader with material to build their own relationship with this powerful Goddess.
The book begins with Rachel describing her years of connection to Sulis, her experience of working alongside Her. The next section provides the available history found during excavations in Bath and the Roman literature.
Part Two provides extensive suggestions working with Sulis, from creating an altar to recipes, the recognised correspondences, as well as those Rachel works with. However, these are all given as suggestions, as Rachel states, build your own relationship and listen to your intuition, Sulis will soon let you know what She would like!
There is an extensive section of end notes, with another for recommended resources should the reader wish to delve deeper into any area, and a list of available academic papers.
